Choose a specific incident or two closely related incidents. Good stories almost always involve struggle. You are wrestling with a problem, and in the process of finding a solution, you grow or learn something important. For our purposes, great stories display God’s character in an unexpected way—His love, His power, His redemptive purposes. Good stories engage emotion. The very best stories make us laugh or cry or both.

- God answered your prayer in a way you didn’t expect.
- You found the courage to make a difficult decision.
- You met an interesting person who changed your perspective.
- You experienced a miracle.
- You found peace in the middle of turmoil.
- Your circumstances didn’t change, but you did.
- You learned a powerful life lesson.
