Reading

In the reading today (pages 249-253), we look at how to defend yourself from temptation and how to rebuild your life after a fall.

All of us experience temptations. While it’s possible to minimize those temptations using the techniques you’ve already learned in this book, you won’t eliminate them altogether. Even Jesus experienced temptations. But we can be ready when those temptations arrive. The Bible promises that we will never be tempted beyond what we are able to endure, but God will provide a way out. (1 Corinthians 10:13) I believe that the techniques you are learning in Spiritual Self Defense could be part of that way out for you.

None of us want to fall, but many of us will. Even David, a man after God’s own heart, fell. I pray that you will not fall, but if you do, David’s story gives us hope. You can be restored. Yes, there will be consequences, and they will be painful. But your relationship with God can be restored, and your soul can be rebuilt—stronger than ever. We may fall, but we don’t stay there. Today’s reading discusses how to recover from such a failure.
